The Guide to a Fashionable Fall

The Guide to a Fashionable Fall

By Kaitlin Croney

With the start of fall, we hang up the denim skirts, stash away the sandals, and bring the cold weather clothes that we haven’t seen in almost a year to the front of our closets. Whether that first cold morning of the season is reason enough for your excitement, or if you’re like me and it takes a bit more to accept that it can’t always be warm, fashion can play an important role in helping you get into the spirit of fall.

Let’s turn to the experts at Elle for some of the trends we should be embracing over the next few months.

1. The Color Purple

New York Fashion Week states that the color purple can be worn from head to toe this fall. But let’s be real… As your 8:30 is not the runway, it’s perfectly fine to start slow and incorporate the color purple into your daily look through the use of accessories.

Recommended Hue: Orchid

2. Belts

Yes, belts have always been around. But this season we are receiving extra encouragement to use belts to cinch our waists when our clothes are not particularly shapely. You mean…a way to wear oversized clothing while still looking put together? Count me in.

3. Satin

This one is my personal favorite. Satin is classy whether you’re wearing it for a formal event or for a casual day at work. Plus, while similar to silk, it is generally a much cheaper buy.

4. The Power Shoulder

Because women are badass.

5. Statement Hats

It’s time to retire your basic pom-pom beanie because this fall is all about crazy headwear that will make you ask yourself how bold you really are.
