How to Reset After Fall Break

How to Reset After Fall Break

By Fifi Fraga

Fall break flew by and we are back at school. Maybe you took all your exams before break and are feeling stress free, or maybe you are coming back with work to catch up on. Maybe you are drowning in deadlines for graduate school applications. Whatever the case, we could all benefit from a post-break recharge to take on whatever is to come.

Leave campus!

Go for an aimless drive and see where it takes you. My roommate and I ventured out on what we thought was going to be a quick drive to Trader Joe’s. We decided to take the long way, down a winding road in the forest, which further led us to a park we never heard of. To our very pleasant surprise, it was a dog park. It was an unplanned but much needed afternoon. The moral of the story is don’t plan so much. Get off campus, go with the flow, and the result might be just what you need.

Treat yourself!

Go get a facial or a massage. Have a self-care day and do nothing but pamper yourself at home. Hand and Stone has various spa treatments from basic facials and massages, customized treatments. For the fall season, you can even get a pumpkin facial! If your couch is calling your name, hang out in sweats all day and do a face mask!

Go out to dinner!

Everyone loves a good meal. Take advantage. There are so many restaurants on the Main Line and in Philly. Some of my favorites are Xolo, Besito, Azie, and White Dog. Speaking of Mexican food, if you have not tried the “bazooka guacamole” from El Vez in the city, it is most definitely something you should try. I first tried it freshman year and keep going back for more. It is guacamole with sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, and pine nuts. It sounds like a weird mix of ingredients for guacamole, but somehow they tie together so well. Also be sure to take advantage of restaurants that have seasonal menus. Eat all the pumpkin, squash, and brussel sprouts you can before Christmas!

Retail therapy!

Nothing feels better than having a bunch of new sweaters for the chilly weather. New jeans and boots can’t hurt either. Be sure to take advantage of sales too, especially ones at nearby stores like at Boujee!

No matter what your recharge needs are, get out there and feel ready for the next half of the semester!
