My Peloton Journey
By Madison DeLuca
My Peloton journey began not too long ago. I first decided to download the app after I heard promising things about it from my roommate. I am really into working out/ staying fit, and wanted to add something new to my workout schedule. However, I will admit I am someone who gets bored easily, so I prefer HIIT workouts where I am constantly moving and usually shy away from distance running or similar forms of cardio. With that being said, I do wish that I enjoyed running more because I love to sweat and think it is such a great way to move your body. Anyway, I downloaded the Peloton app to try out their running programs, and to see if I could improve my running skills. I instantly fell in love with the classes. They were perfect for me! I didn’t get bored while running! I had an instructor telling me what to do with my speed and incline and motivating me throughout while also playing amazing tracks to keep up my energy levels. I started off with 20-minute classes and then progressed to longer classes including 30- and 45-minute classes. I also like to switch between types of running classes: sometimes I do HIIT ones, while other times I do intervals (not my favorite), and then other times I just do fun house rounds. You can combine running classes with each other or combine them with other classes. Overall, I have loved incorporating Peloton running classes into my workout routine.
While I love the running classes, my new favorites are the tread bootcamps. They are perfect for someone who likes a mix of cardio and weight training. These workouts are split up: half running on the treadmill and half on the floor doing exercises. Usually, I will do the 45-minute full-body classes. I think these classes truly embody the phrase “bang for your buck;” especially if I only want to work out for 45 minutes (instead of an hour), tread bootcamps are so efficient (and trust me, it will feel like you worked out for 2 hours). These classes keep you on your toes and truly challenge your fitness journey. You can go light, medium, or heavy on the weights but they add just enough resistance to make you stronger. I am a huge fan of these classes and the way they have impacted my fitness journey.
I loved my first (free) month of classes that I just had to get a membership. The Peloton App Membership gives you access to way more than just running classes. When people think of Peloton, they usually think about the cycling classes. While those are great, Peloton has so much more to offer. There are 10 different types of classes and various levels offered for each type. The app includes a diverse selection of strength, HIIT, walking, cycling, yoga, bootcamps, meditation classes, and more. Additionally, you can access these classes live and or watch them whenever it fits in your schedule! There are A LOT of workouts. If you never want to do the same workout twice, that will not be a problem with the Peloton app. There are over 10,000 on-demand workouts and new ones added every day. The app is so easy to navigate and tracks your progress which is awesome. And all the instructors are AMAZING. A few of my favorites are Selena, Kirsten, Adrian, and Olivia.
Okay, I know this sounds like a Peloton promotion ad, but these classes have truly been a great addition to my workouts. So, download the Peloton app and try it out (for free)! It is not for everyone, but I thought I’d share my Peloton journey because this app has definitely enhanced my workout routine and helped me reach my fitness goals!
