Best (Free) YouTube Workouts for Quarantine

Best (Free) YouTube Workouts for Quarantine

By Grace McGowan

It probably goes without saying: we’re all stuck in our homes and starting to feel a little stir crazy. Everyone should recognize the importance and seriousness of stay-at-home orders and social distancing. However, it’s completely natural to feel pent up, especially when we’re not at our normal activity levels. For a lot of us, including myself, working out is how we support our physical and mental health. But staying at home doesn’t mean that you have to be inactive or give up on working out. Lots of fitness studios are offering online classes during this time, but there’s also a lot of great, free workouts on YouTube. Below are five YouTube fitness channels good for quarantine. Maybe you work out regularly and are now looking for something to do at home. Maybe you want to try something different with all of this new free time. Regardless, I encourage you to check out some of these channels while you’re cooped up at home — staying active is healthy for both your body and mind!

1. MadFit

This is my personal favorite fitness channel. Maddie’s workouts are around 20 minutes and usually don’t require any equipment. They are easy to follow, but still tough. She does a lot of HIIT, cardio, and supersets. Maddie also has song workouts, which are quick workouts to one song and usually last 3-4 minutes. She also has a few 30-day series, which are helpful for staying on track long-term. I really recommend this channel if you’re looking for a good workout, whether you’re a beginner or advanced.

2. Yoga With Adriene

I’ve talked about this channel on Be Well Nova before. Yoga With Adriene is very popular (6.5 million subscribers), and it’s evident why. You can find yoga geared toward any purpose on Adriene’s channel, and all of it is high quality. She has lots of 30-day challenges, which is great. She also has a “yoga for beginners” series and a “foundations” series. She’s great at explaining how to perform postures correctly. I love Adriene’s approach to self-love and “finding what feels good” through yoga. This is a great channel for experienced yogis and beginners alike.

3. The Fitness Marshall

Caleb’s channel is dedicated to dance workouts, and he’s so fun and energetic. Each video is the length of one song (2-4 minutes). You can either do one song as a quick workout or do several songs in a row. In some videos, a few different difficulty levels are offered for you to choose from as you go. The channel does offer full 60 minute videos for $4.99 a month, but the free videos are really all you need to get in a great workout. If you want to pay for more, go for it. Anyone can follow these dances, and they offer a truly joyful way to stay active.

4. blogilates

Cassey does great pilates and sculpting workouts, and her channel is another very popular one (5 million followers). She’s always creating fun challenges, like 100 glutes or 100 abs. She also has fun series like “Bridal Bootcamp”, “Celebrity Workouts”, and “Apartment Friendly.” Each workout video is generally 10-20 minutes. Cassey has other great content on her channel related to fitness and wellness, if you’re interested in that as well. If you’re looking for pilates or a pilates-inspired workout, blogilates is the place to go!

5. Walk at Home by Leslie Sansone

The title says it all — these videos are all about walking, without a treadmill or any other equipment. Even though walking in place might sound simple, I promise that these videos offer a good, fun workout. Leslie incorporates squats and other movements into the walks, so you’re never just walking (though you can do so if you want to). The videos range from 15 to 45 minutes, are low impact, and upbeat. Definitely try this channel out. It’s fun, different, and a great way to still get in a walk when you can’t do so outside.
