Instagram Accounts that Inspire Hope

Instagram Accounts that Inspire Hope

By Fran DeNunzio

We are in the middle of an unprecedented moment in our lives with COVID-19. The need to engage in quarantine and social distancing has restricted our ability to connect with the world and people around us, meaning that we often spend even more time on social media than we usually do. However, social media is also being impacted by the virus. Every time I open my Instagram, I see post after post with new information pertaining to COVID-19. While it is very important to stay informed, the constant stories about this pandemic can be quite frightening. If your Instagram is causing you stress and fear, I recommend following these accounts to add some hope and optimism to your feed.

Asja Boroš (@asjaboros)

Asja Boros is one of my absolute favorite accounts on Instagram. She is an artist based in Croatia who uses her Instagram as a “visual diary.” Her artwork is an expression of her personal internal dialogue, which she transforms into vibrant and uplifting illustrations. All of her posts are centered around a simple but impactful statement that can be visualized through the artwork she has created for it. Asja’s posts are focused on inspiring hope, optimism, and happiness because she believes in the power of staying positive during times of fear and darkness.

Good Good Good is an Instagram news account that reports only good news. It can be disheartening to constantly see negative headlines. The mission of Good Good Good is to combat negativity and fear that is fostered through other media by spreading stories and messages of positivity. Most importantly, this account provides the hope that we often struggle to find by showing that there are so many good things happening in the midst of all of the bad things. Sometimes we just need a reminder that the world is not always a sad place and that everything is going to be okay. Good Good Good also has a newspaper and a podcast that you can subscribe to if you want more even positivity in your life!

Morgan Harper Nichols (@morganharpernichols)

Morgan Harper Nichols is a writer and artist who creates her work based upon the stories of others. Each week, she picks a few submissions and writes poetry in response to these people’s stories. She then transcribes her poems onto beautiful artwork that she has created to match the tone of the poem. Her posts are typically centered around a certain theme, such as courage, joy, faith, or hope. What I love about Morgan Harper Nichols is that she writes about how life is not always easy, and it is okay to feel sad, anxious, or uncertain, but we cannot lose hope. She often emphasizes the importance of remaining hopeful because hope is what allows us to know that we will get through the difficult times in our lives. Her posts serve as the perfect source of encouragement.
