Fall Cocktails to Try at Home

Fall Cocktails to Try at Home

By Julia Valenti

Fall is in the air—the leaves are colorful, the air is crisp, and you can officially start breaking out your sweaters and boots. Apart from all of these wonderful things, one of the biggest and best signifiers of fall are the seasonal recipes. Although it's incredibly basic, I can’t help but indulge in every apple or cinnamon flavored item that comes my way. If you feel the same and are looking to change up your fall drinks from your usual pumpkin spiced latte, here are some fun and trendy cocktails to make at home! Experimenting with recipes is a great way to get into the fall mood, and treat yourself after a long week of work (or whenever, these are tough times, after all). Making cocktails at home can also help spice up a weekend night in, and they’re so much better than the poor-quality drinks that you’d be having at college bars during non-COVID times. Below are two cocktail recipes, tested by yours truly, that are quick, easy, and delicious!

Apple Cider Mimosas from The Cookie Rookie

The recipe calls for:

  • A small bowl of water

  • A small bowl of cinnamon sugar (equal parts)

  • Apple cider (1 gallon)

  • Champagne (1 bottle)

Instructions:

Dip your champagne glass rim in the water, immediately followed by the cinnamon sugar. Fill your glass with ¾ cider and ¼ champagne, or whatever ratio you prefer!

Cranberry Margaritas from Gimme Some Oven

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups cranberry juice

  • 3/4 cup fresh lime juice

  • 3/4 cup tequila

  • 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec

  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

Combine and stir all ingredients until blended equally. Serve over ice in a sugar or salt-rimmed glass, and garnish with cranberries or lime wedges if you want!

Both recipes would pair perfectly with a charcuterie board (another fall favorite and new quarantine pastime), a cozy movie night, or games with a small group of friends. The opportunities are endless. Stay safe, and happy drinking!
