The Best Pumpkin Pie and Apple Crumble Recipes. Ever.
By Lauren Beizer
It is that time of year again: fall is in full swing. All the leaves have changed colors and are beginning to fall, everyone has their fall decorations out, and the temperature has dropped. Fall is definitely my favorite season, for more than the reasons I just listed.
The fall season comes with fun seasonal activities like apple picking and pumpkin carving. But more importantly, putting those apple and pumpkin flavors to use in the kitchen can be so rewarding and delicious. Below are the absolute best pumpkin pie and apple crumble recipes (grandmother approved!) that I have ever come across, and I hope they are as delicious for you this fall!
Pumpkin Pie
The Ingredients:
2 large eggs
16 ounces of pumpkin puree
14 ounces of sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
1 unbaked pie crust
First, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is heating up, combine the pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, and pumpkin pie spice in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth. Once the oven is ready to go, pour the smooth mixture into the unbaked pie crust (which should be in a pie plate), and plop it in the oven! Bake the pie for about 15 minutes, and then turn down the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. After turning the oven down, bake the pie for another 35-40 minutes and then your delicious fall dessert awaits you!
So easy and simple for such a delicious result. Now moving onto another fall favorite…
Apple Pie
The Ingredients:
6 cups of thinly sliced apples
¾ cup of white sugar
1 tablespoon of butter
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 unbaked pie crust
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Then make sure your 6 cups of apples are peeled, cored, and thinly sliced. The next step is to put the cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl. After that, begin arranging the apple slices in layers within the pie crust. Granted that the pie crust is already in a pie plate, keep layering the apple slices until it is a little below level with the top of the pie crust. The apple slices should fill the majority of the pie crust’s depth. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture over each layer of apple slices. After you lay your very last apple layer, add some margarine or butter to the top and then fold the pie crust over onto it as much as you can. Finally, bake for 10 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit, and then bake for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the pie is done baking, you can serve it warm or cold and ENJOY!
The fall season is such a unique time during the year. There are so many different flavors and recipes incorporated into this season. Whether it be baking apple or pumpkin pies, or apple crumb cake, pumpkin bread, or more, there are endless possibilities out there. This fall season, especially in the midst of the pandemic, everyone should try out a new fall recipe that they have not had before. Even though the recipes I described are more traditional dishes, it is always fun to add your own twist on the recipes or ingredients since the overall process is so easy. Happy fall and happy baking!
