When Life Doesn’t Give You Lemons
By Lauren Brady
Let’s face it: most college students don’t have the budget for frequent Lululemon binges. Even their “We Made Too Much” page sometimes isn’t enough for me to invest in leggings that usually aren’t marked down a considerable amount. So, when life doesn’t give you lemons, it’s time to look somewhere else for the perfect pair of leggings to wear to the gym or to class in a stylish athleisure outfit. Here are some of my affordable favorites!
MyProtein Power Mesh Leggings $44
Most people aren’t aware of the UK-based health food and athletic gear company, but the quality of their clothes definitely deserves recognition. I have owned these leggings for about a year and a half, and I haven’t noticed any signs of pilling or pulling - something that some Align owners complain about. These leggings offer a tight fit and squat-proof and sweat-wicking material. My only complaint is that the material attracts quite everything, so be careful to wear these around your pet!
Gymshark Pro Perform Leggings $55
These leggings remind me of the retired Aspire leggings with their thick material and comfort. Loyal fans of the Align will be hesitant to give up the loosely fitting waistband, but I actually prefer the tighter band in this pair since it doesn’t ride down when I run or squat.
Z by Zella High Waist Daily Pocket 7/8 Leggings $28.97
I’m still trying to figure out how leggings this nice have a price this low. These comfortable and stylish leggings even have pockets for your phone or keys! I love the wide variety of colors and their thick material. Most of the colors are sold out on Nordstrom Rack, so act quickly the next time they’re in stock!
Nike Pro HyperCool $44.97 (originally $60)
These are hands down my favorite pair of leggings. I have owned these for almost three years now, and I haven’t seen any signs of pilling. These have a lighter material than some of my other pairs, so runners may appreciate these on hot days. Because they’re on sale, most of the sizes are out of stock, but Nordstrom Rack has a similar pair for even less money ($37.97)!
