Hot Girl Walks

Hot Girl Walks

By Anna Mayock

“Hot girl walks” are NOT just for hot girls. If you have been on the fitness side of TikTok within the last year, odds are you’ve heard of, seen, or even been on the famous “hot girl walk”. While some may scoff at the sight of young women walking in wireless headphones, trendy workout sets, and expensive running shoes, the benefits of the “hot girl walk” are more extensive than they may seem.

Influencer and founder of the “hot girl walk” Mia Lind recommends walking approximately four miles a day. During this time she likes to listen to pump-up music or a podcast, or sit with her thoughts and manifestations. Regardless of if you follow Lind’s recommendations or simply throw on a t-shirt and some headphones, going on a daily “hot girl walk” has many mental and physical benefits.

I was first prompted to go on a “hot girl walk” after seeing this trend all over my TikTok for you page. As I’m sure many can relate to, I initially started walking (whether I wanted to admit it or not) because I idealized the women on the screen and strived to live their “hot girl” lifestyles. After months of wearing my cutest athleisure, listening to podcasts about the art of manifestation, and even investing in a pair of headphones, I began to feel the mental and physical benefits of walking every day.

Going on walks is scientifically proven to improve insulin and hormone levels, mental health, and body composition. Although I initially began going on daily walks because I was constantly comparing myself to the seemingly perfect women on my screen, I continue to walk today because I can feel its benefits on my body and mind. Being someone who struggles with mental health problems, I find that walking outside reduces my own symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression. Other benefits I have seen from walks are a positive impact on my sleep patterns, self-image, and overall confidence levels. I have no doubt that daily “hot girl walks” is the most significant contributor to the positive shift in my health and wellness throughout 2022. A “hot girl walk” is an accessible form of exercise that redefines expectations and unrealistic standards for what constitutes a “good” workout.

I mention all of this to show that “hot girl walks” are NOT just for hot girls. In order to “hot girl walk”, you do not need to invest in the trendiest accessories or listen to the most educational podcasts. Find a routine that works for YOU. “Hot girl walks” provide everyone with the opportunity to improve their own mental and physical health, one step at a time. As the year comes to a close, I urge everyone to practice the hot girl walk. The hot girl walk is for all, we can change the name to “hot PEOPLE walks” come 2023.
