Music to Pick Up Your Energy

Music to Pick Up Your Energy

By Ryan Henry

Great music has the ability to make us feel something that lies far beyond the rhythm and lyrics, as it teleports us to new worlds and headspaces. With the world resonating with chaotic energy these days, I want to recommend some quality tunes to soothe you on those anxious days and hopefully provide you with a new form of peace.

I could write an entire article about how all four of The 1975’s studio albums benefit overall mental health, but today I just want to focus on their third one, “A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships.” With heavy jazz undertones dominated by their pop identity, this album provides a deeper commentary into the defining characteristics our society faces today, such as modern politics, our relationship with technology, and the entire Millennial experience.

Personal Favorites: TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME, Sincerity is Scary, It’s Not Living (If It’s Not with You)

Jon Bellion truly embodies the highs and lows we face throughout our lives in the 14-song spread that is “The Human Condition.” With layered acoustic and lyrics that surround you into a whole new perspective, this album really forces you to step back and reflect.

Personal Favorites: New York Soul Pt. II,  Morning In America, Hand of God

Mac Miller.

That’s it- that’s the recommendation.

Mac Miller was a legend whose legacy will remain in our hearts, minds, and ears for years to come. His album “The Divine Feminine” is filled with positive vibrations and radiates female empowerment and praise through his soulful tone.

Personal Favorites: Stay, Soulmate, God is Fair, Sexy, Nasty (ft. Kendrick Lamar)

If you didn’t fall in love with Anthony Ramos from Hamilton the Musical, stop lying to yourself. Anthony has branched out from musical theater, recently releasing his passionate R&B album “The Good & The Bad.” With foot tapping rhythms and lyrics focusing on love and lust you’ll have this one repeat for days to come!

Personal Favorites: Dear Diary, One More Hour, Mind Over Matter
