Breaking Down the Main Line
By: Rachel Zuercher
The Ultimate Guide to all the Main Line has to offer.
If Philly is too far to travel for a nice place to eat or to try somewhere you have never been, why not stay around the Main Line? We all know about The White Dog, Nudy’s, and El Limon…but here is a list of some cool new restaurants, and places you may not have heard of but should check out!
Brunch
They have all the classic options: Eggs Benedict, Omelettes, and Seasonal Specials, but most importantly, have you SEEN their Stuffed French Toast? It’s about the size of your head, filled with rich and creamy filling and piled with the toppings of your choice. Plus, it is BYOB so you can come stocked and ready for your Mimosas without the extra $$$.
Cocktails
The name sounds daunting and really...who likes whiskey? But after going here and trying something new - you will be a fan. I recently went here just for drinks and they were amazing! They have Happy Hour every day from 4-6PM with $5 drink and food specials!
Beer
Amazing names and descriptions, and even better flavors. A personal favorite: the Wiccan brew - buy a bottle and embrace your ~spooky~ self. And with two locations, you can enjoy their cozy Brew Cafe with small plates and bites, or their Fermentaria where you can have tacos and sandwiches while seeing where the beer is made.
Barbeque
Tin Lizard Brewing Company
Tin Lizard is mostly known for their beer brewed on site with new tap flavors every couple of weeks! BUT, they also have all of your barbeque favorites from pulled pork, to brisket, to fried pickles, delicious sauces, and more! Enjoy a flight of beer on the rooftop patio while it’s still nice out and stay for the barbeque!
Asian
This may not be the cost effective Sushiland we all know and love, but it is the Asian food that we desperately are missing on the Main Line. Located in Berwyn, just a short 15 min drive away, this place is WORTH IT.
Indian
With such flavorful options, all your favorite curry offerings, and quick and easy delivery, why aren't you eating here every day?! (I ask myself this often). Chicken, lamb, beef, or vegetable curries with fresh baked naan and basmati rice sounds perfect for the upcoming chilly fall nights. Also check out their deals-- they are always having new promotions and specials.
Coffeehouse
Come here to do work, or just chill and have a nice lunch...the options are endless! I highly recommend the bagel with veggie cream cheese and tomato.
Very aesthetically pleasing cafe in Haverford with healthy breakfast and lunch options and artisanal coffee from local Rival Bros Coffee! Come do some work here and grab their homemade gelato on your way out!
Italian
Rich Italian flavors in a cute, intimate atmosphere! Plus, it’s BYOB so you can bring your favorite bottle of wine and go on a nice date, a birthday celebration, or a night out with friends!
This restaurant is fairly new to the Main Line and a great addition! Inventive cocktail flavors, a great wine selection, and wonderful pizzas, pastas, and appetizers. Must Try: Ricotta with Citrus Herb Oil, Honey and Fresh Baked Flatbread!
Japanese
You know that place that you always drive by to get to Suburban Square and think is a little shop? Try an amazing fast-casual Japanese Restaurant! Authentic flavors and not too expensive.
Need a quick, easy dinner? Pick-up some fresh sushi from Jason’s! Sushi is made to order or there are pre-made options that you can grab and go!
Sandwiches
Carlino’s Market in Ardmore & Tredici Italian Market in Wayne
Both offer Italian Specialty Sandwiches with premium meats, cheeses, and spreads. If you’re tired of sandwiches from the Bartley Exchange...head over to one of these delis!
Pizza
Away from the main drag of Lancaster, right at the corner of Glenbrook near Wawa, this pizza place is definitely not one to be overlooked. A wide variety of craft beer and delicious starter and pizza options. They make their dough in-house, with the perfect combinations of seasonings and fresh toppings.
